Inspired by digital spam and Hito Steyerls article The Spam of the Earth: Withdrawal from Representation, I aimed to create a work relating to the publication of Flora Batava while combining it with the digital sphere. Initially I related the idea of seeds spreading in nature to the digital spam clusterring internet and by manipulating images of plants from the book I created blurred and streched visuals that I then used for designing spam looking advertisments. Finally I turned the designs into seed packets with seeds of plants corresponding to the ones shown in the manipulated images.
The end result turned out to be an interactive work which participants could engage with by taking seed packets home, planting them and spreading the ‘spam’ further.
